Night Care Assistant

About the role

We are a well‑regarded residential home in Littlehampton seeking a reliable and compassionate Night Care Assistant. You will provide person‑centred care throughout the night, ensuring residents feel safe, comfortable and respected.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with night‑time routines, including preparing for bed and supporting morning wake‑up.
• Provide personal care with dignity and respect.
• Carry out regular checks on residents during the night and respond promptly to any needs.
• Support continence care in line with care plans and protocols.
• Monitor and record any changes in residents’ conditions and report to senior staff.
• Respond quickly to call bells and resident requests.
• Reposition residents as required to prevent pressure sores.
• Maintain a calm, reassuring presence and offer emotional support when needed.
• Keep the home clean, tidy and free of hazards throughout the shift.
• Follow safeguarding policies, emergency plans and fire procedures.
• Complete handover documentation for the day staff.
• Undertake mandatory and additional training for professional development.

Required profile

• Reliable, compassionate and able to work night shifts.
• Committed to delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care.
• Willing to follow care plans, policies and procedures.
• Ability to record observations accurately and communicate changes.

Required skills

• Medication administration (for those trained).
• Continence care.
