Night Porter

About the role

The Night Porter will work overnight at a Bed & Breakfast and Theological College in Manchester, ensuring the safety, security and comfort of guests outside regular daytime hours. This role combines front‑desk duties with security checks and basic cleaning to keep the property ready for the next day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a welcoming presence at reception, handling check‑in and check‑out procedures.
• Respond promptly to guest requests and enquiries during the night shift.
• Carry out security rounds, monitor alarms and ensure fire safety protocols are followed.
• Perform basic cleaning and tidying of public areas and prepare rooms for the following day.
• Maintain accurate logs of incidents, maintenance issues and guest interactions.
• Cover weekends, bank holidays and provide holiday cover as needed.

Required profile

• Good spoken and written communication skills.
• Basic IT proficiency, including email and the ability to learn booking or hotel management systems.
• Ability to work independently and responsibly during overnight hours.
• Professional, customer‑focused attitude with calmness in unexpected situations.
• Flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays and provide holiday cover.
