Night Registered General Nurse (RGN) – Edinburgh

About the role

As a Night Registered General Nurse (RGN) at Barchester Healthcare in Edinburgh, you will provide 24‑hour nursing care to residents in a care‑home setting. You will assess physical, psychological and social needs, ensure safety and deliver high‑quality clinical care throughout the night shift.

Key responsibilities

• Assess residents’ health status and respond to urgent clinical needs during night hours.
• Develop, review and update individualised care plans.
• Administer medication safely and accurately.
• Conduct detailed risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and handover documentation.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organisational policies.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of clinical best practices.
• Experience producing comprehensive care plans and risk assessments.
• Understanding of DoLS/MCA legislation and Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines.
• Compassionate, person‑centred approach to nursing.
