Night Shift Manager

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Night Shift Manager to lead our logistics and warehouse operations during the night hours in the East Midlands. You will be responsible for driving performance, ensuring safety, and maintaining high service standards while managing a large, union‑represented team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of managers and operational staff, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, embed best practices and boost operational efficiency.
• Oversee fleet resources, stock inventory and maintenance activities to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.
• Manage resources to respond to fluctuating customer demand and volume changes.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and legal requirements.
• Handle recruitment, succession planning and headcount management.
• Deliver against key operational KPIs, budget targets and service level agreements.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience managing managers and large operational teams in a fast‑paced, unionised environment.
• Strong background in multi‑drop delivery, logistics, transport or final‑mile operations.
• Track record of delivering KPI performance, productivity improvements and cost control.
• People‑focused leader able to engage, motivate and develop teams at all levels.
• Excellent decision‑making skills with the ability to react quickly to changing demands.
• Passion for exceptional customer service and high operational standards.
