Night Support Worker – Residential Children’s Home

About the role

We are looking for experienced Night Support Workers to join a residential children’s home in Cambridgeshire. This waking‑night position provides high‑quality care for children and young people with severe learning difficulties and complex needs, ensuring their safety, comfort and wellbeing throughout the night.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consistent, compassionate care during night shifts (8:45 pm – 8:15 am).
• Support bedtime routines, including washing, changing and encouraging healthy sleep patterns.
• Carry out regular checks, respond to any needs and maintain a calm environment.
• Administer and record medication, ensuring all medical requirements are met.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks during quieter periods.
• Assist with personal care and, when necessary, provide physical intervention.

Required profile

• Previous experience in the care sector; experience with children with additional needs is advantageous.
• Caring, resilient and positive attitude.
• Strong communication skills and patience.
• Ability to encourage independence and creativity in meeting individual needs.
• Willingness to work a rota that includes alternate weekends.
• Commitment to safeguarding and delivering high‑quality care.

Required skills

What we offer

• Hourly rate £12.87 – £14.03 (based on competency and qualifications).
• £25 night supplement per shift.

• Fully funded Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care.
