Night Transport Planner

About the role

Our client, a market‑leading integrated road and rail freight logistics provider, is seeking a Night Transport Planner to join the busy London Gateway depot. You will coordinate driver activities throughout the night, ensuring timely deliveries and smooth communication with ports and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate multiple drivers on a daily basis.
• Liaise directly with UK ports to book delivery slots.
• Use the TOPS transport system to record drivers' start and finish times.
• Monitor ETAs and ensure on‑time deliveries.
• Reroute jobs efficiently when required.
• Match Proof of Deliveries with corresponding jobs in the system.
• Communicate with customers about potential delays and delivery updates.

Required profile

• Proven experience in transport operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Quick thinking with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Highly organised and detail‑oriented.
• Flexibility to meet business demands.
• Container handling experience (desirable).
