Non-Medical Prescriber – Part‑time (Macclesfield)

About the role

Change Grow Live is seeking a qualified Non‑Medical Prescriber to join its multidisciplinary team in Macclesfield. This part‑time, permanent position involves delivering recovery‑oriented alcohol and drug intervention services, prescribing and reviewing medication, and supporting service users in achieving healthier lifestyles.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment and interventions for service users.
• Prescribe, review and amend opiate and alcohol substitute treatments and related medications in line with evidence‑based practice and local protocols.
• Provide clinical advice in complex, urgent or emergency situations, escalating to the Clinical Lead when required.
• Assess and refer service users for BBV vaccination and immunisation programmes.
• Promote health‑promotion strategies and support service users to adopt healthier lifestyles.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records of consultations and ensure compliance with legislation and organisational policies.
• Communicate effectively with service users, carers and external partners, acting as an advocate where needed.

Required profile

• Qualified pharmacist with current GPhC registration and at least two years post‑qualification experience, OR a first‑level registered nurse with relevant prescribing qualifications.
• Demonstrated ability to work flexibly, listen actively and adapt to the individual needs of service users.
• Commitment to the charity’s core values of openness, compassion and boldness.

Required skills

• Prescribing and medication management within the scope of practice.
• Knowledge of alcohol and drug substitution therapies.
• Understanding of BBV vaccination and immunisation protocols.
