Nursery Assistant – Early Childhood Practitioner

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Nursery Assistant to join our early childhood team at Cheeky Cherubs in Morecambe. You will help create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for infants, toddlers and preschool‑aged children, supporting their daily routines and developmental milestones.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age‑appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social and physical development.
• Provide high‑quality care including feeding, diapering, naptime supervision and outdoor play.
• Maintain accurate records of children’s activities, health information and developmental progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues and parents to monitor individual needs and develop personalised care plans, especially for children with special educational needs.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety and first‑aid procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a daycare, preschool or similar early years setting.
• Level 3 Nursery Practitioner qualification or equivalent.
• Current first‑aid certification; additional special‑education qualifications are a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, patient approach.

Required skills

• Knowledge of early childhood development principles.
• Effective classroom and behaviour management techniques.
• Ability to work with children of varying ages, from infants to preschoolers.
