Nursery Chef – Full‑time Kitchen Role

About the role

Family First Nursery Group is looking for a dedicated Nursery Chef to join the kitchen team at Acre Wood Day Nursery in Arlesey. Working 25 hours per week, you will prepare nutritious, age‑appropriate meals for children while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, completing monthly hygiene checklists and updating cleaning schedules.
• Prepare and cook daily meals with minimal waste, ensuring food is served as close to the point of service as possible.
• Manage dietary requirements, including food allergies, and follow Red, Amber and Green plate procedures.
• Collaborate with nursery staff and parents to promote healthy eating habits.
• Plan and control food orders to meet budgetary targets.

Required profile

• Sound knowledge of food allergy management and COSHH regulations (essential).
• Experience and qualification appropriate for cooking in a commercial kitchen (essential).
• Fluent written and spoken English at GCSE grade C level or equivalent (essential).
• Passion for cooking for young children (desirable).
