Nursery Kitchen Assistant

About the role

Join Childbase Partnership as a Kitchen Assistant at Edwinstowe Day Nursery in Cambridge. You will prepare nutritious meals for up to 79 children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, supporting the wellbeing and dietary needs of each child.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a range of meals from a set menu using fresh ingredients.
• Maintain 5‑star hygiene standards in line with COSHH, allergen and manual‑handling guidelines.
• Collaborate with the Nursery Cook to ensure timely meal delivery.
• Support safeguarding by monitoring dietary requirements and health considerations.

Required profile

• Passionate about healthy, wholesome food for young children.
• Professional catering experience in a kitchen environment.
• Knowledge of COSHH, allergens, manual handling and food hygiene.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child wellbeing.
• Team‑oriented and able to work alongside the Nursery Cook.

What we offer

• Permanent contract, 27.5 hours per week (Mon‑Fri 13:00‑18:30).
