Nursery Manager

About the role

Academics is seeking an experienced Nursery Manager to lead its Independent Schools Nursery in South West London. You will provide strategic direction and day‑to‑day leadership, ensuring a safe, inclusive and inspiring environment where children thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Inspire, motivate and lead the Early Years team, fostering a positive working culture.
• Coach Deputy Managers, Room Leaders and practitioners, developing future leaders.
• Champion staff wellbeing, professional growth and reflective practice.
• Deliver an ambitious, child‑centred EYFS curriculum that sparks curiosity and confidence.
• Create learning environments tailored to children’s interests and needs.
• Collaborate with school colleagues to ensure smooth transitions into Reception.
• Drive continuous improvement through self‑evaluation and innovation.
• Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety.
• Ensure compliance with EYFS statutory requirements and Ofsted expectations.
• Recruit, induct and retain talented Early Years professionals.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification (Level 5 or above desirable).
• Current Designated Safeguarding Lead training and strong safeguarding knowledge.
• Safer Recruitment training or willingness to undertake it.
• At least two years’ leadership experience as a Deputy Manager or Nursery Manager.
• Proven track record of high‑quality Early Years provision with successful Ofsted outcomes.
• Excellent knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
