Nursery Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Nursery Manager to lead one of our well‑established early years settings in Chelmsford. The role involves overseeing daily operations, safeguarding, and team development to deliver high‑quality education for children from birth to school age.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, managing child protection concerns, records, referrals and liaison with external agencies.
• Embed a strong safeguarding culture across the team, ensuring ongoing awareness and training.
• Oversee health and safety standards, including risk assessments, inspections and incident reporting.
• Support delivery of high‑quality early years education aligned with statutory frameworks and best practice.
• Ensure engaging, age‑appropriate learning environments that support children’s development.
• Manage occupancy planning, enquiries and overall nursery place management.
• Contribute to financial processes such as fee administration and budget awareness.
• Prepare for regulatory inspections and drive continuous improvement activities.
• Support recruitment, induction and ongoing professional development of staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Nursery Manager, Childcare Manager, EYFS Manager, Early Years Manager or similar role.
• At least 2 years post‑qualification experience within a nursery setting.
• Relevant Early Years qualification at Level 3 or above.
• Level 2 maths qualification.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo DBS checks.
