Nursery Room Leader – Babies Room

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Room Leader to join our Babies room at Chestnut House Kindergarten in Colchester. This full‑time position offers a supportive family environment where you will be valued and encouraged to grow.

Key responsibilities

• Provide stimulating, age‑appropriate experiences and resources for children.
• Support children’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.
• Maintain accurate records in the EyLog and EyMan systems and update child learning journals.
• Promote a key‑person approach to foster secure attachments.
• Ensure compliance with the EYFS statutory framework and health & safety standards.
• Lead by example, modelling impartiality and consistency for staff.

Required profile

• Full Level 3 childcare qualification (essential).
• Minimum 1 year experience in early years settings (essential).
• At least 6 months experience in a senior or leadership role (desirable).
• Knowledge of Ofsted expectations and EYFS regulations (desirable).

Required skills

• Proficiency with the EyLog system.
• Proficiency with the EyMan system.
