Nursery Room Leader

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Nursery Room Leader to manage a vibrant Montessori classroom in Wimbledon. The role involves planning, preparing and organising daily activities in line with the Montessori method and the EYFS framework, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and monitor the curriculum and activities to maintain high standards of childcare.
• Ensure the safety, well‑being and individual needs of children, keeping accurate records of observations and assessments.
• Model best practice, supervise play staff and trainees, and provide individual or group coaching.
• Attend training courses and share learning with the team.
• Follow all Mace Montessori policies and procedures, including health and safety and OFSTED requirements.
• Manage line‑management responsibilities for staff within the room.
• Assess, record and report on children’s development, supporting staff with this process.
• Promote positive relationships among adults and children, and keep parents informed of progress.
• Identify potential special needs and liaise with the Nursery Manager and SENCO.
• Travel between sites as required.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar room‑leader or early‑years role.
• Full‑time availability (40 hours per week).
• Ability to lead and supervise a team, including providing training and feedback.
• Willingness to travel between nursery sites.
• Commitment to upholding Montessori principles and EYFS standards.
