Nurture Teacher – SEND/SEMH Alternative Provision

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Nurture Teacher to join a specialist Alternative Provision in Rochdale. The role focuses on re‑engaging pupils aged 11‑16 who are at risk of exclusion, providing a safe, structured environment that supports both emotional regulation and academic progress.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver core subjects (English, Maths and/or Science) to small groups using a differentiated scheme of work.
• Support pupils working below age‑related expectations due to SEND, SEMH or learning gaps.
• Implement nurture‑based, trauma‑informed and relational teaching approaches.
• Collaborate closely with on‑site social workers, learning mentors and support staff.
• Contribute to pathways aimed at reintegration into mainstream education where possible.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) – essential.
• Proven experience teaching SEND, SEMH or within an Alternative Provision setting.
• Strong understanding of differentiation and nurture‑based methodologies.
• Commitment to inclusive education and student reintegration.
• Excellent behaviour management and relationship‑building skills.

Required skills

• Experience delivering structured learning in small‑group environments.
• Ability to adapt curriculum to meet diverse emotional and academic needs.

• Competitive salary range £29,250‑£40,000 per year.
• Full‑time role with Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑3:30 pm schedule.
