Occupational Health Nurse – 18 month Fixed Term

About the role

The British Transport Police are seeking an Occupational Health Practice Nurse to join their Occupational Health team on an 18‑month fixed‑term contract. You will play a vital role in safeguarding the health, safety and wellbeing of police officers and staff across the rail network.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct occupational health assessments (face‑to‑face, paper or remote) to determine fitness for work.
• Provide clear, confidential reports of medical outcomes to employees, line managers and relevant departments.
• Deliver health surveillance programmes and maintain accurate records.
• Offer advice to managers and staff on workplace health and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with OH colleagues, recruitment, People delivery and other stakeholders to ensure effective OH service delivery.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and experience in occupational health or a related clinical area.
• Strong clinical judgement with the confidence to make practical recommendations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage workload independently while working as part of a team.
• Customer‑service orientation and the ability to build effective working relationships.

• Salary of £39,871.93 per annum plus a £4,613.61 London allowance for London‑based roles.
