Occupational Health & Wellbeing Lead

About the role

South West Water is seeking an experienced Occupational Health & Wellbeing Lead to shape and deliver its health strategy. Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, you will drive a healthier, safer workplace and influence wellbeing programmes across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
• Manage occupational health services, including health surveillance, case management and referral pathways.
• Oversee external occupational health providers and medical specialists, ensuring performance and quality.
• Develop and maintain health and wellbeing policies and procedures.
• Analyse workforce health data and sickness absence trends to set strategic priorities.
• Conduct workplace health needs assessments and implement evidence‑based wellbeing initiatives.
• Optimise the Employee Assistance Programme and support pathways.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, governance requirements and best practice standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing occupational health services, health surveillance programmes or employee health referral processes.
• Strong understanding of workplace health risks, occupational health governance and statutory surveillance requirements.
• Experience managing external providers and service contracts.
• Track record of developing and delivering wellbeing, mental health or employee support programmes.
• Ability to interpret data and insights to inform decisions and demonstrate impact.
