Occupational Therapist – Major Adaptations

About the role

Our client, Reading Borough Council, is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their Major Adaptations team. The role focuses on assessing and delivering complex housing adaptations that support independence and wellbeing for local residents.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments for major housing adaptations.
• Develop detailed adaptation specifications and written reports.
• Collaborate with housing officers, surveyors and adaptation professionals.
• Provide guidance on adaptation pathways and regulatory requirements.
• Visit service users’ homes within the Reading area.

Required profile

• HCPC registration and a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification.
• Significant experience in major adaptation assessments.
• Strong knowledge of adaptation pathways and related legislation.
• Person‑centred approach with focus on independence, choice and wellbeing.
• Excellent assessment, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
