Ocean Import Operator – Freight Forwarding (Heathrow)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Ocean Import Operator to join our dynamic freight forwarding team at Heathrow. You will manage the full lifecycle of ocean freight import shipments, ensuring smooth and compliant delivery for our global customers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end ocean freight import processes from origin to destination.
• Coordinate international sea freight shipments and liaise with shipping lines, overseas agents, suppliers and customers.
• Prepare and process import documentation such as Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists and certificates of origin.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations and resolve any customs holds or documentation discrepancies.
• Monitor shipments, proactively address delays, and maintain accurate records in the logistics system.
• Produce operational and management reports as required.
• Identify cost‑effective shipping routes and collaborate with sales, warehouse and finance teams.
• Stay up‑to‑date with industry regulations and customs legislation.

Required profile

• Previous experience in ocean/sea freight forwarding.
• Strong knowledge of ocean freight import procedures.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Capability to handle multiple shipments and tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
