Ocean Import Operator

About the role

Join a leading global freight forwarder in Manchester as an Ocean Import Operator. You will own high‑volume deep‑sea import consignments from origin booking through to UK delivery, enjoying operational autonomy and strong growth potential.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of ocean import files (FCL & LCL) across international trade lanes.
• Prepare and process customs entries, import documentation and Bills of Lading in line with regulations.
• Coordinate with ocean carriers, overseas agents and domestic hauliers to secure rates and optimise transit times.
• Act as the primary advisor for client accounts, providing real‑time milestone updates and resolving route bottlenecks.
• Oversee job costing, approve supplier charges and ensure accurate client invoicing to protect profitability.

Required profile

• Proven background in ocean import operations within a freight forwarding environment.
• Solid understanding of deep‑sea import documentation, Incoterms and customs procedures.
• Experience using freight platforms such as CargoWise One or similar systems.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail under tight timelines.
