Ofsted Registered Manager – New Children’s Residential Home

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Ofsted Registered Manager to lead the launch and ongoing operation of a new three‑bed children’s residential home in Ilford. The role involves creating a therapeutic environment for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and ensuring the service achieves a “Good” or “Outstanding” Ofsted rating.

Key responsibilities

• Register with Ofsted as the home’s Registered Manager and maintain compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
• Oversee the opening, day‑to‑day management and continuous improvement of the residential home.
• Develop a child‑centred, therapeutic culture focused on positive outcomes for young people.
• Recruit, train, supervise and motivate a high‑performing residential care team.
• Ensure safeguarding is embedded in all practice and manage care planning, risk management and behaviour support strategies.
• Monitor quality assurance, compliance and budgetary performance.
• Build strong relationships with local authorities, social workers, education providers, families and other professionals.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Ofsted Registered Manager or Deputy Manager ready to register.
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards it).
• In‑depth knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and safeguarding legislation.
• Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Proven leadership, people‑management and decision‑making abilities.
