Online Assistant – Retail Fulfilment

About the role

As an Online Assistant you will play a vital part in delivering a seamless shopping experience for Sainsbury’s online customers. Working on the shop floor you will pick, pack and prepare orders for home delivery, ensuring the highest quality and accuracy.

Key responsibilities

• Pick and select the best quality products for online orders, providing suitable substitutions when items are out of stock.
• Use a handheld device to follow a store route, track picking tasks and monitor time limits.
• Assist with customer queries, process orders and help load delivery vans.
• Maintain a clean, organised store environment and keep product displays tidy.
• Support colleagues across the store as needed, working flexibly to meet demand.

Required profile

• Willingness to start early shifts (often from 4 am) and work in a fast‑paced, physical environment.
• Positive, friendly attitude with a genuine enthusiasm for helping customers.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.

Required skills

• Comfortable using handheld digital devices for route planning and order tracking.
• Physical capability to lift and move shopping containers up to 15 kg.
