Operational Risk Lead

About the role

WTW’s Outsourcing Risk & Assurance team is seeking an Operational Risk Lead to help keep its pension administration services resilient and well‑controlled. Working at the heart of the business, you will partner with operational teams, senior stakeholders and Enterprise Risk Management to identify emerging risks, strengthen controls and support data‑driven decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct horizon scanning of regulatory developments, industry trends and external events to surface emerging risks.
• Support risk assessments for new or changed products and services, ensuring operational dependencies and resilience are addressed early.
• Assist the Risk and Control Assessment (RACA) process, documenting and managing identified risks and controls.
• Review control self‑assessments, challenge assumptions and contribute to continuous improvement of the control environment.
• Investigate operational risk incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and work with stakeholders to implement preventative actions.
• Analyse incident and risk‑event data to identify trends, emerging risks and recurring themes for escalation.
• Maintain risk registers, dashboards, root‑cause reports and other management information for the core risk team.

Required profile

• Experienced risk professional with a strong interest in operational risk within financial services or pension administration.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with operational teams and senior stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with a curiosity for investigating incidents and uncovering underlying causes.
• Excellent communication skills to challenge assumptions and influence improvements.
