Operational Tax Manager

About the role

We are partnering with a global asset management firm to find an Operational Tax Manager who will support the Head of Product and Operational Taxes. You will act as the tax business partner on all initiatives, providing advice on potential tax exposures and risks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tax and technical support for product tax compliance and reporting to customers and HMRC.
• Offer subject‑matter expertise to Product, Operational and Marketing teams for new product launches and legislative changes.
• Liaise with tax authorities, auditors and advisors to ensure product tax obligations are met, especially at year‑end.
• Develop and improve product tax systems and processes to deliver an efficient service.
• Monitor legislative changes, assess impact, and brief both tax and non‑tax specialists.
• Identify and communicate product tax risks to risk teams and the wider business.
• Maintain product tax risk control frameworks across Pensions and ISA businesses.

Required profile

• Recognised professional financial qualification (e.g., CTA, AIIT, CA, ACA) or equivalent experience in product taxes.
• Member or fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, or comparable tax expertise.
• Strong knowledge of UK Tax Acts, regulations and HMRC guidance, especially for pensions and savings products.
• Understanding of FCA reporting requirements and other regulatory obligations.
• Ability to develop commercial awareness of the group’s product range and related regulatory requirements.
