Operations Director - Engineering

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead all UK operational activities for a fast‑growing engineering business based near Beaconsfield. This senior, hands‑on position will translate group strategy into day‑to‑day execution, driving efficiency, safety and profitability across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of three Line Managers (20 staff each) and 24 engineers, ensuring high‑performance delivery.
• Oversee projects, service contracts and maintenance delivery to meet safety, quality, time and budget targets.
• Manage workforce planning, resource utilisation, supply‑chain performance and subcontractor relationships.
• Develop and monitor operational KPIs, ensuring compliance with health, safety and regulatory standards.
• Analyse contract profitability, margins and project outcomes to support financial decision‑making.
• Contribute to group‑wide operational frameworks, best practices and integration activities as the business expands across Europe.

Required profile

• Proven senior operational leader with experience managing multi‑site teams in an engineering or industrial environment.
• Strong track record of delivering safe, on‑time, on‑budget services.
• Ability to work closely with senior leadership and translate strategy into actionable plans.
• Excellent analytical skills for financial performance and contract profitability.
