Operations Director

About the role

The Operations Director will report to the Vice President UK and be responsible for the safe, compliant and commercially effective delivery of Mistras Group's operational services across the United Kingdom. This senior leadership position focuses on strategy execution, service delivery, resource planning and performance improvement while ensuring technical standards are embedded in daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the UK business strategy, annual operating plan, budget and growth priorities.
• Translate strategic objectives into operational plans, performance measures and delivery priorities.
• Create and implement operational processes, ensuring compliance with competence requirements and safe systems of work.
• Develop, promote and report on operational KPIs, including performance, incidents, near‑misses and improvement actions.
• Ensure delivery aligns with UK legislation, client requirements, project budgets and industry standards.
• Maintain operational risk registers, conduct project reviews and support audit activities.
• Lead change initiatives such as process improvement, system adoption and organisational design.
• Manage and develop UK direct reports, including resource planning, recruitment and performance management.

Required profile

• Proven senior operational leadership experience, preferably in engineering, inspection or asset protection services.
• Strong understanding of UK health, safety and environmental legislation and industry standards.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute operational strategies and manage budgets.
• Experience leading cross‑functional teams, driving performance improvement and managing risk.
• Excellent communication skills to convey objectives and performance metrics to senior management and staff.
