Operations Director

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead our manufacturing client’s production functions. This senior position will shape strategy, drive efficiency and support growth across a high‑volume, bespoke manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with business objectives and growth plans.
• Contribute to company‑wide strategic planning as a member of the senior leadership team.
• Identify opportunities for investment, automation, process optimisation and operational innovation.
• Lead transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, profitability and customer experience.
• Oversee production schedules, ensuring safe, efficient and profitable delivery.
• Monitor workflow and capacity planning to optimise machine utilisation and workforce efficiency.
• Drive improvements in throughput, quality, waste reduction and on‑time delivery.
• Implement maintenance strategies to maximise equipment reliability and uptime.
• Lead, coach and develop departmental managers and operational teams.
• Champion quality standards, health & safety, environmental and regulatory compliance.
• Manage operational budgets and monitor financial performance.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in engineering or manufacturing environments.
• Track record of delivering operational excellence in high‑volume or bespoke production.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to work closely with sales, finance and customer service.
• Demonstrated capability to lead large, cross‑functional teams and drive cultural change.
