Operations Director – Manufacturing & Supply Chain (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

We are seeking an Operations Director to lead our Cambridge manufacturing site through a critical transition period. The role will ensure business continuity while establishing the operational framework for a new facility and an expanded supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute the migration of production to a new site, maintaining output and quality.
• Oversee manufacturing, materials, logistics and supply‑chain functions to meet on‑time, on‑cost delivery targets.
• Negotiate with suppliers, manage inventory and working capital in line with product requirements.
• Lead the site as a visible presence, retain key talent and support staff through change.
• Set departmental KPIs, report performance and drive continuous improvement using Lean and 5S.
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to manage NPI transitions to full‑scale production.
• Implement health & safety standards and quality initiatives while reducing costs.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in manufacturing or industrial equipment environments.
• Track record of managing complex change programmes and site transitions.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in supplier negotiations and working‑capital management.
• Ability to lead large, cross‑functional teams and maintain high engagement.
