Operations Manager – Gas Services & Field Teams

About the role
Liberty Group is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead multi‑disciplinary field teams delivering gas service, repair and installation contracts across Exeter and the wider Devon area. You will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, compliance and high‑quality customer outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and mentor field teams across gas service, repair and installation contracts.
- Oversee operational delivery, ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with Contract Supervisors and Admin Teams to meet KPIs, budgets and profitability targets.
- Lead health & safety, technical quality initiatives, toolbox talks and inspections.
- Build and maintain strong client and customer relationships as the senior operational contact.
- Monitor budgets, material usage and job performance to deliver value for money.
- Drive service improvements, contribute to strategic planning and support procurement for regional growth.
- Deputise for senior leaders and help shape Liberty’s strategic direction.
Required profile
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Proven contract supervision experience managing technical engineers and office staff.
- Experience in social housing, particularly gas service, repair and installations.
- City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a technical, supervisory or management discipline.
- Strong understanding of gas legislation and health & safety best practices.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with a caring, empathetic approach.
- Demonstrated coaching ability and experience managing change.
- Analytical, reliable, trustworthy and achievement‑driven.
Required skills
- UK driving licence.
- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 qualification.
- Proficiency with PDA devices for field documentation.
- In‑depth knowledge of gas legislation.
- Health & safety compliance expertise.
