Operations Manager – Logistics & Distribution

About the role

The Operations Manager will lead a busy logistics and distribution site, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant daily operations. This permanent, full‑time role offers genuine autonomy to shape processes, drive performance and deliver outstanding customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop drivers and office staff.
• Plan and manage daily delivery schedules to maximise efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, HSE regulations and company policies.
• Oversee cylinder stock, assets and reconciliation processes.
• Promote a safety‑first culture across the site.
• Maintain site standards and regulatory compliance.
• Support staff development through training and performance management.
• Identify and implement improvements to operational performance and customer service.
• Act as emergency keyholder for out‑of‑hours call‑outs when required.

Required profile

• CPC in Transport Management (essential).
• Previous experience managing operational or logistics teams.
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation, tachograph regulations and the Working Time Directive.
• Experience within logistics, distribution or a service‑led environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
• Confidence using IT systems.
• ADR experience or knowledge of hazardous goods (desirable).
• IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (preferred).
