Operations Manager – Transport & Hazardous Waste

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Operations Manager to lead our transport and hazardous waste operations. You will be responsible for overseeing transport, vehicle and driver management, budgetary control, regulatory compliance and QHSE across multiple sites and remote locations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the effective operation of transport, hazardous‑waste facilities and remote sites in line with legislation.
• Deliver cost‑effective, profitable services while maintaining high customer satisfaction and strong supplier relationships.
• Plan and execute day‑to‑day transport operations, maximising vehicle utilisation and meeting service level agreements.
• Ensure QHSE provisions meet regulatory requirements and maintain company accreditations.
• Review, update and implement group, operational and transport policies, risk assessments and safe working practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a fast‑paced transport department, preferably within the waste industry.
• Transport Manager CPC qualification (COTC desirable) and up‑to‑date knowledge of drivers’ hours and working time regulations.
• Experience managing drivers and staff who work away from base.
• Strong health & safety background, ideally with a NEBOSH qualification.
• Ability to develop and coach a diverse team in line with company development processes.
