Operations Supervisor – Transport Operations

About the role

Arriva is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to lead the day‑to‑day running of its busy bus network in Harlow. You will ensure services run safely, on time and efficiently while supporting drivers and depot staff.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, motivate and support operational staff and bus drivers.
• Manage daily bus service delivery, route coverage and resource allocation.
• Monitor punctuality, reliability and overall operational performance.
• Support driver welfare, performance management and employee development.
• Investigate operational incidents, customer complaints and service disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies and transport legislation.
• Collaborate with engineering and depot teams to maintain fleet availability.
• Produce operational reports and maintain accurate records.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and customer service.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Operations Supervisor, Transport Supervisor or Duty Manager.
• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience managing operational performance and KPIs.
• Knowledge of transport operations, scheduling and resource planning.
• Understanding of health and safety and compliance in a transport environment.
• Flexibility to work shifts, evenings and weekends.
• Full, valid driving licence.
