About the role

Join Specsavers in North Shields as an Optical Assistant Apprentice. This full‑time apprenticeship offers hands‑on experience in a retail optics environment while you earn a wage and develop a career in customer‑focused eye care.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome customers into the store and provide friendly service
• Book and coordinate eye test appointments
• Pre‑screen patients and gather relevant information
• Offer style advice and help customers choose frames
• Measure frames for proper fit
• Answer phone calls and respond to enquiries

Required profile

• Proactive, people‑oriented and passionate about retail
• Enthusiastic about delivering excellent customer service
• GCSE Maths grade 9‑4 (A*‑C) or equivalent qualification
• Legal right to work in the UK (EU residence of 3+ years)
• No prior experience in the optical sector
• Ability to travel to the North Shields store daily
