Optical Assistant – Customer‑Facing Role

About the role

Join the Lewisham and Catford Specsavers store as an Optical Assistant, the friendly face that welcomes customers and supports the delivery of eye‑care services. You will use your passion for the Specsavers brand and your customer‑service expertise to create a welcoming environment for both shoppers and colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Assist customers with product selection, fitting and dispensing of spectacles and contact lenses.
• Maintain a clean, organised store environment and ensure displays are stocked.
• Support Optical Advisors in routine tasks and help manage appointments.
• Process sales transactions and handle cash accurately.
• Provide information on Specsavers products, promotions and services.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 months experience working in an optician’s shop.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, people‑oriented attitude.
• Ability to work full‑time (40 hours) including weekends.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of optical terminology.
• Familiarity with dispensing processes in an optical setting.
