About the role

We are looking for an experienced Optical Assistant to join a friendly independent practice in Borehamwood. The successful candidate will help deliver a seamless patient experience, supporting the optometrist and ensuring customers receive expert advice and care.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide high‑quality customer service.
• Carry out pre‑screening eye health checks.
• Hand over patients to the optometrist in a professional manner.
• Dispense spectacles, advise on lens options and assist with frame selection.
• Fit, adjust and repair spectacles.
• Provide contact lens teaching and support.
• Manage collections, after‑care appointments and administrative tasks accurately.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in an optical practice.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
• Professional, positive attitude with strong attention to detail.
• Organisational ability and a genuine passion for helping customers.
