Orthopaedic/Spinal Scrub Nurse (ODP) – Full‑time

About the role

Join Ramsay Health Care’s Theatre department in Southampton as an Orthopaedic or Spinal Scrub Nurse (ODP). You will work in modern operating theatres equipped with laminar airflow and advanced technology, supporting a range of orthopaedic and spinal procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Provide scrub support for orthopaedic surgeries such as hip and knee arthroplasty and ACL reconstruction.
• Assist with spinal procedures when required.
• Maintain sterile field and ensure all instruments and equipment are ready.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and the theatre team.
• Utilise Ramsay Academy resources to develop clinical skills and potentially gain Surgical First Assist (SFA) qualification.

Required profile

• NMC or HCPC registration.
• Proven surgical scrub experience in orthopaedics.
• Desirable: SFA qualification, spinal scrub experience, anaesthetic experience.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible, positive attitude with a warm and empathetic character.

Required skills

• Orthopaedic scrub experience (hip arthroplasty, knee arthroplasty, ACL reconstruction).
• Spinal scrub experience (desired).
• Surgical First Assist qualification (desired).
• Anaesthetic experience (desired).
• NMC/HCPC registration.
