Outdoor Education Tutor – Alternative Provision (Burnley)

About the role
This temporary full‑time position runs from September 2026 to Easter 2027, providing outdoor education for vulnerable young people in the Burnley area. As an Outdoor Education Tutor you will design and deliver engaging outdoor learning programmes that support students who thrive outside a mainstream classroom.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality outdoor sessions such as bushcraft, team‑building and outdoor sports.
- Adapt activities to meet the social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs of learners.
- Conduct safety and risk assessments while maintaining an exciting learning environment.
- Provide mentor‑style support to encourage positive behaviour, teamwork and confidence.
Required profile
- Experience working in an Alternative Provision, Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) or with high‑risk/SEMH youth.
- Relevant outdoor instructional qualifications are highly desirable.
- Strong behaviour‑management abilities, empathy and resilience.
- Clean driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred for travel to outdoor sites.
