Outdoor Learning & Wellbeing Lead

About the role

Aspire People Limited is seeking a passionate Outdoor Learning & Wellbeing Lead (HLTA) to join a specialist educational setting in Rochdale. This full‑time position starts on a temporary basis with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. You will use outdoor education and wellbeing interventions to help young people develop confidence, resilience and essential life skills.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver engaging outdoor learning and enrichment activities.
• Design programmes that promote life‑skills, independence and preparation for adulthood.
• Deliver high‑quality PSHE sessions tailored to pupil needs.
• Provide targeted emotional wellbeing and intervention support.
• Support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe delivery of outdoor activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, families and external professionals.
• Monitor progress and contribute to pupil support plans and reviews.

Required profile

• HLTA qualification or substantial experience at HLTA level.
• Experience working with children and young people, especially those with SEND or SEMH needs.
• Background in delivering outdoor learning, sports, adventure activities or Forest School programmes.
• Strong understanding of emotional wellbeing and intervention strategies.
• Confident delivering PSHE and life‑skills programmes.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Proactive, resilient and passionate about making a difference.
