Outsourcing Accountant

About the role

The Outsourcing Accountant will be a senior member of an established accounting firm in the City of London, owning a portfolio of outsourced clients. You will act as the trusted finance lead, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, management accounts and VAT compliance while developing junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of outsourced clients and lead monthly/quarterly review meetings.
• Review and approve bookkeeping work, providing constructive feedback to Assistant Accountants and bookkeepers.
• Prepare, review and present monthly and quarterly management accounts, including schedules, accruals, pre‑payments and journal entries.
• Conduct variance analysis against budget, prior periods and forecasts, and write commercial commentary.
• Review, sign off and submit VAT returns, handling complex scenarios such as partial exemption and reverse charge.
• Identify advisory and upselling opportunities and work with senior leadership to deliver them.

Required profile

• Senior‑level accountant with experience managing a client portfolio in an outsourcing environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate technical detail into client‑focused conversations.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop junior bookkeeping staff.
