Overhead Crane Engineer – Service & Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Overhead Crane Engineer to join a leading specialist in heavy lifting equipment. The role involves providing service, maintenance and breakdown support for a range of overhead and gantry crane systems across industrial sites.

Key responsibilities

• Service, maintenance and emergency breakdown support on overhead and gantry cranes.
• Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs.
• Inspection, testing and commissioning of lifting equipment where required.
• Installation, upgrades and modifications to crane systems.
• Working safely on customer sites in industrial and manufacturing environments.
• Accurate completion of service reports and related documentation.
• Delivering excellent on‑site customer service and technical support.
• Participating in call‑outs and overtime as needed.

Required profile

• Previous experience with overhead cranes, hoists or other lifting equipment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding abilities.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Full UK driving licence and comfortable working at height.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Relevant engineering qualifications or lifting industry certifications are advantageous.
• Knowledge of LOLER regulations and crane inspection procedures is desirable.
