Overhead Crane Service Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Overhead Crane Service Engineer with a strong electrical background to join our specialist engineering team. You will service, maintain, diagnose and commission overhead and gantry cranes across industrial sites in South East England, providing reliable support to our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair overhead and gantry cranes.
• Perform electrical and mechanical fault finding on industrial equipment.
• Diagnose and repair 3‑phase motors, drives, controls, brakes and safety systems.
• Inspect and maintain pendant and radio control systems.
• Install, commission and upgrade crane equipment.
• Conduct LOLER inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency call‑outs across customer sites.
• Complete accurate service documentation and technical reports.

Required profile

• Proven experience working on cranes, lifting equipment or similar industrial machinery.
• Strong electrical fault‑finding skills, especially with 3‑phase systems and industrial controls.
• Good mechanical engineering knowledge.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Full UK driving licence.
