Packing/Bagging Operator

About the role

As a member of the Flake and Packing department, the Packing/Bagging Operator ensures processed potato flakes are packed to company standards while maintaining quality, hygiene, safety and production efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Fill bags with product to the correct weight, seal, date, label and stamp each bag.
• Maintain machine output and perform periodic bag weight checks on pallets.
• Obtain packing materials and processing chemicals as required.
• Shrink‑wrap palletised loads and load bags onto containers using a hand or forklift.
• Record hourly production figures and ensure totals are accurate.
• Report any equipment faults to the Senior Operative or Area Shift Manager.
• Assist with departmental shutdown, cleaning, start‑up procedures and empty dust‑extractor bins.
• Follow all company documentation, health‑safety and food‑safety procedures, including AIB Gold Standard cleaning.
• Support training of new operators as needed.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar role within a food manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of correct manual‑handling techniques.
