Paediatric Staff Nurse – Daisy Ward

About the role

We are seeking a Band 5 Paediatric Staff Nurse to join Daisy Ward, a specialist 10‑bed unit comprising a 6‑bed Neurosurgical, Trauma and Burns High Dependency Unit and a 4‑bed Burns Unit. The role supports the regional Paediatric Major Trauma Centre and the South West Burns service.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to critically ill and burned children in the HDU and Burns environments.
• Perform continuous patient monitoring, administer paediatric medications, and manage ventilators and other HDU equipment.
• Provide specialised wound care and support for complex burn injuries.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, documenting care accurately and adhering to clinical protocols.
• Participate in handovers, audits, and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Completed preceptorship and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
• Experience in critical care or burns nursing within a paediatric setting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage a busy workload, prioritise tasks and make rapid decisions.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with both clinical and non‑clinical staff.
