Paraplanner (Technical Specialist)

About the role

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Paraplanner to join our small independent financial advice (IFA) firm in Glasgow. The role is office‑based and involves providing technical support to our UHNW clients across a wide range of financial planning services.

Key responsibilities

• Research and review investment, pension and estate planning recommendations for ultra‑high‑net‑worth clients.
• Enter data into the client back‑office system and external insurance platforms.
• Prepare pension switch/transfer advice, arrange SIPPs/SSAS, and produce drawdown and income planning reports.
• Conduct Annual Allowance and Lifetime Allowance planning, including protection strategies.
• Provide inheritance tax and trust recommendations, and advise on tax‑efficient investment vehicles such as EIS and VCT.
• Support corporate investment and protection planning, including key‑man insurance and group schemes.
• Generate client portfolio valuations from multiple providers and assist team members with technical administration.

Required profile

• Experience working in an IFA office, preferably as a senior paraplanner or technical administrator.
• Strong understanding of the financial services industry, investments and pensions.
• Attention to detail, ability to prioritise workload and react quickly to changing situations.
• Minimum diploma qualification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xplan or a comparable financial planning system.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
