Part-Time Accountant – Flexible Hours

About the role

Join a friendly, forward‑thinking accountancy practice in Olney on a part‑time basis. You will provide proactive accounting support to a varied client base, helping business owners understand and improve their financial performance while enjoying a flexible schedule that can accommodate school hours.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare self‑assessment tax returns, management accounts and corporation tax returns.
• Support clients with Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment.
• Review limited company accounts prepared by team members before finalisation.
• Complete bookkeeping tasks using Xero and Dext.
• Communicate confidently with clients via meetings, phone calls and messages.
• Provide proactive advice to help clients understand their financial position.
• Manage own workload to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
• Contribute to weekly team meetings and regular MS Teams check‑ins.

Required profile

• Minimum AAT Level 4 qualification.
• At least three years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice.
• Proficient in Xero (experience of Dext is desirable).
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
• Strong communication and client‑relationship skills.
• Proactive, organised and able to identify improvements to clients’ financial processes.
• Enjoys collaborative teamwork in a supportive environment.

• Salary £32,000‑£35,000 pro rata per annum, dependent on experience.
