About the role

Join the caring team at Charnwood Oaks, a purpose‑built care home in Shepshed, Leicestershire. As a part‑time Kitchen Assistant you will help deliver nutritious meals to 84 residents, many of whom have age‑related health conditions and dementia.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare meals, snacks and beverages in line with individual dietary requirements.
• Carry out quality checks on prepared food and ensure proper storage.
• Assist with food service to provide a dignified dining experience for residents.
• Maintain accurate stock records and support ordering of supplies.
• Keep the kitchen clean, tidy and compliant with food‑safety standards, including deep‑cleaning tasks.

Required profile

• Patient, understanding and respectful attitude towards residents.
• Genuine caring nature with a desire to make a positive difference.
• Ability to work reliably for 18 hours per week, primarily on weekends.

Required skills

• Basic food‑preparation techniques.
• Knowledge of food hygiene standards (training provided if needed).
• Ability to follow stock‑keeping procedures.
