Part-Time Payroll Officer (SAMpeople)

About the role

Arbor Education, which helps schools and over 100 MATs manage their people, is looking for a dedicated part-time Payroll Officer to work remotely in the UK. The role is about removing the administrative burden of payroll and pension management from customers, primarily in the education sector. It is a 10-day-per-month position at £29,000 per year pro rata.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customers' monthly payroll operations from start to finish
• Ensure all staff are paid correctly and within specified deadlines
• Update the payroll system with current pay scales, pension rates, NI rates and tax thresholds
• Calculate pay adjustments, including holiday pay for leavers and statutory payments such as maternity and paternity
• Ensure accurate payments and report to external stakeholders, including HMRC
• Maintain strict compliance with GDPR and ISO27001 data protection standards

Required profile

• Degree level education and/or a relevant payroll qualification
• Previous payroll processing experience; education sector experience is a bonus
• Solid understanding of HMRC requirements, including Tax, NI and statutory deductions
• Experience with Auto Enrolment pension schemes
• Desirable: knowledge of the LGPS or TPS

• High attention to detail and ability to multi-task under pressure
