Part Time Sales Ledger & Credit Controller

About the role

Our client, a well‑established business in Watford, is seeking an experienced Sales Ledger & Credit Controller to join their finance team on a permanent part‑time basis. You will own the end‑to‑end Sales Ledger and Credit Control function, working 25 hours across five days in an office environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the Sales Ledger and Credit Control processes from start to finish.
• Allocate and reconcile sales receipts in multiple currencies (GBP, EUR, USD).
• Match BACS remittances from large retailers, including rebates and discounts.
• Proactively chase overdue balances by phone and email while maintaining positive customer relationships.
• Investigate non‑payment reasons and agree next steps with management.
• Handle disputed invoices and negotiate resolutions within agreed terms.
• Open new customer accounts using credit agencies and trade references.
• Produce weekly debt‑performance reports for directors and flag risk.
• Process Direct Debit collections using BACSTEL software.
• Manage and reconcile invoice discounting facilities.
• Maintain records in Sage Line 50 and provide occasional Accounts Payable cover, including multi‑currency supplier payments.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Credit Control or Sales Ledger roles.
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of Sage Line 50 (at least 3 years).
• Experience handling multi‑currency transactions.
• Professional approach to debt collection and customer contact.
• Competent in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, IF statements, PivotTables).
• Previous exposure to invoice discounting facilities.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to meet monthly deadlines.
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
