Part‑time English Lecturer (18.5 hrs/week)

About the role

Rotherham College is seeking a part‑time English Lecturer to deliver GCSE English Language and Functional Skills English to full‑time students and adult learners. The role involves 18.5 hours per week, split between well‑equipped onsite classrooms and the college’s virtual learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons for GCSE English Language and Functional Skills English.
• Utilise Google Classroom and other digital tools to support blended learning.
• Monitor and track learner progress, providing feedback and interventions to promote positive outcomes.
• Contribute to departmental targets such as student recruitment, retention and achievement.
• Collaborate with the Deputy Manager for English and Maths and other teaching staff to share best practice.

Required profile

• At least A‑Level (or equivalent) qualification in English or a related subject.
• Willingness to work towards a recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Commitment to inspiring learners and supporting their future success.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Google Classroom and online learning platforms.
