Part‑time Finance Manager – Dunstable

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time Finance Manager to lead our finance function in a medium‑size construction and engineering firm. Working 25 hours per week on‑site, you will ensure financial compliance, drive budgeting and forecasting, and support strategic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial compliance, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
• Manage cash‑flow, expenditure monitoring and long‑term financial planning.
• Review and sign off accounts prepared by a team of five.
• Supervise payroll, invoicing, VAT submissions and tax liabilities.
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting systems and software.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align financial strategy with business goals.
• Monitor contracts, legal compliance and available government grants or R&D schemes.
• Provide financial analysis for upcoming projects and risk mitigation.

Required profile

• CIMA or ACCA qualified.
• Experience with patents, CIS, business grants and R&D tax credits.
• Proven ability to lead a finance team and work closely with senior management.
• Strong understanding of construction/engineering financial environments.
